Dr. Barbara Römer

Founder + CEO

  • Dr. Barbara Römer is a strategy consultant who specializes in developing cultural visions for cities, with clients ranging from Miami to Riyadh (where she was named a “Global Thought Leader” in 2017), from New York to London, from Berlin to Al Ula, from Abu Dhabi to Abidjan. Born in Germany, she was educated at Princeton and received her PhD at Cambridge University, worked in museums in France and Japan, directed theatre in Germany, produced two feature films in the USA, and consulted with McKinsey & Company in Munich and New York, where she was an integral part of creating the Nonprofit Practice and elected the US representative for the Arts & Culture Sector. Trustee of the Deutsches Museum. Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company for Arts + Culture.

Juliet Rylance

Co-Founder + Artistic Producer

  • Juliet Rylance is an award-winning actor and producer who is known for her work in theatre, film, and TV, including HBO’s “Perry Mason” opposite Matthew Rhys (dir. Tim Van Patten), BBC’s “McMafia” opposite James Norton, “The Knick” opposite Clive Owens (dir. Steven Soderbergh), and “Sinister” opposite Ethan Hawke (dir. Jason Blumberg). Producing Credits include Tennessee Williams’s Something Cloudy, Something Clear (TimeOut Critics Choice); Neil LaBute’s Bash (TimeOut Critics Choice); Romeo and Juliet (Inns of Court, London), and Days and Nights (dir. Christian Camargo). She embarked on the international tour of the Bridge Project, directed by Sam Mendes, playing Rosalind in “As You Like It”(Obie Award for Best Actress). President of The Blake Society. Ambassador of The Old Vic Theatre.

Annette Richardson

Senior Impact Advisor

  • Annette Richardson is a strategic advisor with a unique blend of corporate strategy and public affairs expertise. She currently serves as Special Advisor to the Under Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women. Previously, as Senior Advisor to the UN Office for Partnerships under Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, she convened major multi-stakeholder dialogues on public-private partnerships. She also served as Special Advisor for Sustainable Energy. Before the UN, Annette was Director of International Relations for the NYC 2012 Olympic Bid and Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO of Vivendi Universal. Named one of Forbes Woman’s “Most Powerful Minds,” she is Founder and Managing Partner of Richardson Partners LLC and Partner at Ambershore Group.

Sir Mark Rylance

Artistic Advisor

  • Mark Rylance was the inaugural Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe (1996-2006) and has acted in over 50 productions of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. He is an honorary bencher of Middle Temple Hall, a trustee of The Shakespearean Authorship Trust, an ambassador for SURVIVAL, and a patron of PEACE DIRECT. Broadway: Farinelli and the King; Twelfth Night and Richard III; Jerusalem; La Bête; Boeing-Boeing. Films: Steven Spielberg’s Big Friendly Giant, Bridge of Spies, Ready Player One; Chris Nolan’s Dunkirk; Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7; Waiting for the Barbarians; The Phantom of the Open; The Outfit; Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up; and Terrence Malik’s The Way of the Wind. Awards: Winner of an Academy Award, multiple Tony Awards, Olivier and BAFTA Awards.

Claire van Kampen

Artistic Advisor

  • Claire van Kampen was the Founding Director of Theatre Music at Shakespeare’s Globe, creating both period and contemporary music for more than 35 productions. She developed an international career as a composer/performer, writing and playing for theatre, television, film, as well as concert halls. She created original scores for Matthew Warchus’ Broadway productions of True West (2000) and Boeing-Boeing (2008). Other US productions include: La Bête (Broadway/West End); Richard III and Twelfth Night (Shakespeare’s Globe/West End/Broadway). Select films: Days and Nights; Wolf Hall (historical music arranger) for BBC/PBS. As playwright and director: Farinelli and the King (Shakespeare’s Globe/ West End/ Broadway).  Awards: The VeroNihil Verius Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts; 2007 Sam Wanamaker Award; and multiple Olivier and Tony Award nominations.

Tamara Harvey

Artistic Advisor

  • Tamara Harvey became Co-Artistic Director of the RSC in June 2023, alongside Daniel Evans. Born in Botswana and raised in the US and UK, she began her theatre career as assistant director at Shakespeare’s Globe under Mark Rylance. From 2015, she served as Artistic Director of Theatr Clwyd, forging partner-ships across the UK with institutions such as the National Theatre, Paines Plough, the NHS, Social Services, and the National Trust. 

    Her award-winning shows include Home, I’m Darling by Laura Wade (nominated for five Olivier Awards, winning Best New Comedy), Peter Gill’s version of Uncle Vanya, digital adaptations of The Picture of Dorian Gray and What A Carve Up! and Isla, which she then directed for the BBC. Her work as a freelance director has included Shakespeare, classic revivals, new writing, and musical theatre at theatres in the West End, around the UK, and in the USA.
